Keralan Fish Curry - Gewürzhaus

This Keralan Fish Curry recipe is from the online store for Gewürzhaus. This is a cheap recipe to whip up in only 3 main steps in the method below. If your a curry lover and what to try something new, this goes down well and even reheats well for leftovers. The fish maintains its tenderness and if you go for a cheap fish like Basa, there's no overpowering fishy flavor.

Ingredients
4 1/2 tsp Gewürzhaus South Indian Seafood Masala
3 cloves garlic
1 cm piece ginger
½ small onion
½ x 400g tinned tomatoes
150ml coconut milk
200g firm white fish (like basa)
handful of green beans, top and tailed
¼ red capsicum

The Method

  1. Work the spice, minced ginger and garlic and ⅛ cup of water into a loose paste using a mortar and pestle.

  2. Fry finely diced onion in heavy based pan in hot oil until golden brown. Add paste and fry until it is fragrant and bubbling. Add tomatoes and simmer until the liquid has dissolved, then fry for 4-5 minutes or until fragrant. Stir in coconut milk and ⅓ of cup water, season, and simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Add fish and vegetables and cook until fish is tender, about 5 minutes. Serve with steamed rice and a wedge of lime.
